First Tracks in Hirafu

Niseko : Hirafu : First Powder : snow On November 3rd, TNC’s Jess Ripper and local pro photographer Glen Claydon took advantage of the heavy early season snowfalls by hiking their way up to the top of the Alpen quad chair and riding the deep powder snow all the way to the resort base. A snowfall of this magnitude is earlier than usual, and with the temperature around -8 Celsius at the top of the hike, the snow was cold, light and deep, with some patches 60+ cm deep!

Check out Glen’s Hirafu First Run photo slideshow of their adventure.

As Glen so eloquently put it, “Pow is pow, and on the 3rd of November, pow is WOW!!!

Season first tracks are under the belt, so here’s to a big winter and deep turns for all!
